Corey ‘The Dribbler’ speaks at James H. Vernon School

Corey “The Dribbler” Rich, a former Harlem Globetrotter, visited James H. Vernon School to celebrate Red Ribbon Week on Oct. 17.

Red Ribbon Week is an annual campaign that promotes drug-free lifestyle and healthy living.

To celebrate the week, Rich spoke at a schoolwide assembly and showcased his basketball skills. He showed off his dribbling and performed various tricks for students.

Rich spoke to students about making healthy choices, being kind and creating a successful life. He shared personal stories about his hard work, dedication and respect.

Red Ribbon Week was started in 1985 to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use. The week aims to encourage students to commit to living drug-free lives. Schools across the country host week-long events, activities and programs.

This year’s theme at James H. Vernon School is about making positive choices.

At the assembly, Rich spoke about reflection, learning, respect and activity.
