Each month, the Glen Cove Senior Center hosts birthday celebrations. This July, the center was joined by Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) to celebrate her mother, Dr. Millie DeRiggi.
Dr. Millie DeRiggi celebrated her 86th birthday with the center on July 19.
As per the center’s tradition, the event had food and dessert, roses, singing and celebration among friends and family. The center celebrated all of its July “birthday babies.”
The tradition was started by Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton when she served on the Glen Cove City Council.
“Birthday parties at the Glen Cove Senior Center are always a very special occasion, but July is especially meaningful because I get to celebrate with my mom,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-
